     #1 Building Rich Vocabulary

How to build rich vocabulary with your students?

There are many ways to build vocabulary with your students.

The first activity I chose was building a word wall. To built our word wall with adjectives that are used to decribe art around us.

To get started on this we traveled to the library to view artwork of the elmentary, middle and high school students.  While we were there I ask the students to bring their cell phones or Ipads to take a picture of their favorite piece of artwork that stood out to them at each level.  When we returned to the Art room, the students picked one or more pieces and came up with a word that described each piece.  They wrote each word on a piece of paper and added it to the word wall.

   #2 Brainstorming

 Organization Chart

Using words from Word Wall to give artwork titles.

Using a chart or brainstorming technigue will help students in coming up with titles for their artwork.  The chart that I used for my students
