Throughout my experience as a high school Art Teacher I've learned that my students are struggling to express, identify and define his or her artwork. 

 

Part of being an artist is the ability to title, label, identify styles and write artist statements. I see my students struggle in both oral and written communication, therefore, I identified the writing of an artist statement as part of my common core standards and my personal objective in my teaching. I believe writing across subjects and building my students' vocabualry will assist them in the skill that I am asking of them.
